Daawat-E-Ishq Review

Daawat-E-Ishq Rating Rating:-   2.5/5 Stars (Two and half stars)
Star Cast: Aditya Roy Kapur, Parineeti Chopra, Anupam Kher, Karan Wahi.

Daawat-e-Ishq directed by Habib Faisal is Parineeti’s second movie with the director after Ishaqzaade. The movie traces the story of Gulrez (Parineeti Chopra) who is a bright college student who works at a shoe shop in her spare time. Her dad played by AnupamKher is ever worried to get his daughter married; however every suitor comes with the condition of dowry. The father daughter duo fed up with evils of the dowry system plans to trap a rich man by getting him married to Gulrez and then slapping a dowry case on him in order to strip him off his money to support the daughter’s desire to study abroad. The man who is targeted is Tariq played by Aditya Roy Kapoor.
The movie has many logical loopholes. It is never explained why the father is so hell bent on getting his really young and smart daughter married. Aditya Roy Kapoor as Tariq is not bad but his clothes and makeup hurts the eye. Parineeti Chopra as the sly, bubbly Gulrez as always is engaging. She has a rare quality of uplifting any scene to its fullest potential. However it is the second half of the movie which goes completely haywire and things take a turn for the worse, be it direction or acting to a certain extent.
Yash Raj Films tries to focus on the issue of dowry culture without trying to make it a melodramatic topic, but instead they completely lose their focus and the movie ends up being a half-baked romantic story. Daawat- e- Ishq has more flaw than flair.
