Anand Kumar’s DesiKattey is a story of two friends Pali (AkhilKapur) and Gyani (Jay Bhanushali) who grow up to become the Robin Hood of their area. The movie traces their tryst with their enemies, the primary one being played by AshutoshRana. Both Pali and Gyani get recruited by Major Surya Kant Rathore played by Sunil Shetty who employs them to work for the country instead of against. A lot of the plot initially sounds like the recently released movie under Yash Raj Banner, Gunday. However, DesiKattey is much worse. The plot is the weakest point of the movie. As a result of which acting suffers. Actors like Sunil Shetty and AshutoshRana disappoints which is both surprising and sad. The songs don’t make much of an impact even though it is composed by KailashKher and the background score is outright annoying. The camera movements are incoherent as a result of which it is hard to understand scene transitions.
The director must have been confused about the movie which clearly reflects in the direction. The movie tries to put sports, underworld, crime and romance all together which has only created a mash up, the kind of mash up one would like to avoid.
