Khoobsurat Review

Khoobsurat  Rating:  3/5 Stars (Three stars)
Star Cast: Sonam Kapoor, Ratna Pathak, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Fawad Khan, Kirron Kher, Aamir Raza Hussain
Khoobsurat directed by ShashankaGhosh and being marketed as Disney’s first Indian princess movie, released on 19th September. The movie traces the story of Mili (SonamKapoor) a physiotherapist who lands up in a royal family after she receives the responsibility of taking care of Hussain, who is old and bound by a wheel chair. The story basically focuses on Mili, her adventures around the strict ‘malkin’ of the house played by RatnaPathak Shah and her romantic exchanges with the royal son (Fawad Khan).
At the very outset one can see that Khoobsurat is bubbly, perky and pink. However, SonamKapoor delivers a better than expected performace. She is comfortable in her role and pulls off the emotional bits with ease. RatnaPathak Shah, as always is effective. Fawad Khan who has become the eye candy of India for a while is convincing. He looks deliciously good looking in the movie and does not overdo. However, it is KirronKher, playing Mili’s loud Punjabi mother who utters the best line and offers the best laughs. She is a real star in this role.
Khoobsurat slows down in the second half and certain song sequences seem dragged even though the songs have become highly popular. The movie is not the best you have seen in the genre but certainly not as big a disaster as Aisha (Anil Kapoor’s first production starring SonamKapoor and AbhayDeol). Don’t miss Khoobsurat, let SonamKapoor surprise you, for once.
